Cruise Whitsundays Port of Airlie Terminal

Leisuretex Property Maintenance Contractors has had 2 of our painters at Port of Airlie painting the newly constructed Cruise Whitsundays Terminal (and enjoying the view) for the past month, with the terminal set to open in a few weeks.

The Cruise Whitsundays Terminal has been designed with airport style check in desks, a large cafe with indoor and outdoor eating areas, a gift shop and a comfortable seated waiting area.
Located immediately across from the Whitsunday Regional Council’s bus and transit terminal and beside a 176 space car park the facility is aimed to see Port of Airlie outclass other North Queensland tourist centres.

With work still underway, we will keep you updated on the progress.

We can’t wait to see the finished product!

Commercial Repaint – Queensland Rail Caboolture Station

Hope everyone enjoyed their June long weekend!

While everyone else was ‘maxin relaxin‘ a group of our Leisuretex painters were out at Caboolture Railway Station working tirelessly completing a commercial repaint in 48 hours (Queensland Rail must shut down the line for these maintenance works)! Achieving the work done to the critical deadline was a credit to our painters and their ‘Make it Happen’ attitude .

Works completed onsite included a full repaint both internally and externally of the ticketing office. This involved the standard painting works expected in most commercial painting projects, however with added works to the timber soffits. Our painters did a full rejuvenation of the timber soffits finishing with polyurethane, ensuring the longevity of the timber.

Also completed by Leisuretex Painting Contractors was the repainting of the amenities, the high visibility posts on the platforms, the steel structure waiting shelters and painting of the stair nosing in high visibility non slip paint.

The staff at Leisuretex Painting Contractors did a fantastic job, completing the repainting to the critical deadline at the high standard Leisuretex Painting Contractors prides itself on.

Twin Towns Services Club

Twin Towns have recently undergone major renovations to their Tweed Heads Services Club. Leisuretex Property Maintenance was involved in the painting and wallpapering of the new look club by Hutchinson Builders.

The refurbishment was completed in two stages. In the first stage the painting and decorating of the newly built section of the club was completed. This included the new gaming rooms, outdoor areas, dance and stage areas, restaurants, TAB, Sports Bar and Foyer.

The stand out for us was wallpapering the ceiling of the Pokies room; not an easy job to complete but our master wallpaperer did an amazing job! The photos do not do the work justice!

In the second stage of works the refurbishment of the level 3 function rooms painting and decorating was completed. “With a remodelled kitchen, four state of the art meeting rooms, a purpose built break out room to cater for conferences, seminars, weddings, functions as well as a remodelled Horizons function Room you may be assured Twin Towns will have a brilliant facility for members to be especially proud of and an additional diversified income stream for the future longevity of this great club.” Michael Fraser, Board Chairman of Twin Towns.

The finished Twin Towns Services Club looks amazing! We can’t wait to visit ourselves to see how much it has changed. Next time you’re there for a concert, event or even just a meal, check out the paintwork!

BBC Middle School Precinct

BBC

In time for the beginning of first term 2014 Leisuretex Property Maintenance have completed painting and rendering works to the new Middle School Precinct at Brisbane Boys’ College (BBC) in Toowong.

Work began on the newly constructed building in September 2013 with the external rendering of the building. From there our team moved to the internal painting of the precinct. Being purpose built and designed for boys aged 10 to 15 the colours and designs used really gave life to the building’s environment. “The changing educational landscape demands a holistic approach to creating learning environments and it’s this trend that has greatly informed the development of BBC’s new Middle School Precinct.”

The Brisbane Boys’ College Middle School Precinct painted by Leisuretex Painting Contractors consists of four levels, each dedicated to a specific year group with “Years 5 and 6 will be housed on the bottom level, [and] Years 7 to 9 occupying the remaining levels.” It also boasts 35 contemporary spaces designed for both group work and individualised learning, a two storey purpose built Junior School library, dedicated spaces for pastoral care activities and house meetings and a state-of-the-art science laboratory.

Along with the external rendering and painting and internal painting of the precinct, Leisuretex Painting Contractors also hand treated, sealed and finished  the timber soffits in the entryway and throughout the ground floor under cover area using specialised nano technology coating systems.

The finished Middle School Precinct cements Brisbane Boys’ College as a “K-12 educational facility without equal.”

Four Points by Sheraton New Construction Internal External Paint

Leisuretex Property Maintenance have completed painting works to Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane recently opened March 3, 2014.

The 32 storey building fronting 99-103 Mary Street is the “first internationally branded, new-build hotel property launched in [Brisbane] in the last 10 years.”

The hotel caters for both business and leisure travellers with 200 typical guest rooms (each an average of 27 square meters in size) over 28 levels, one level of suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a café bar, 200 square meters of function space and a flood resistant car park.

Our works included painting of the exterior using swinging stage and abseil painting, internal painting of all areas of the hotel using various styles and techniques, rendering and wallpapering.

Walking through the lobby construction zone at Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane the Leisuretex Painting Contractors staff have painted the front lobby ceiling black with white walls, ensuring the edging between the two colours is seamless.  Timber soffits are then installed over the black accentuating the colours in the timber and giving a luxurious, contemporary look. The lobby also has a feature curved wall which was rendered and then white set.

A textured membrane was painted onto the exterior of the 32 storey building using swinging stages and abseil painting. The swinging stages are set up from the top of the building in an area restricted to only our Operations Manager and the Safety Officer onsite. More importantly set up with our swinging stage ropes and pulleys are our rope recovery lines. When staff are painting from the swinging stage boats, they are all harnessed with rope lines that are secured to the building separately. In the extremely unlikely event that one of the boats would fall, our painters would be safe.

The Leisuretex Painting Contractors staff working at these heights have undergone comprehensive training including Working Safely at Heights, Swinging Stage and Rope Access training. We also have staff onsite trained in rope recovery. Safety is always our first priority at Leisuretex Painting Contractors, and standing at the top of The Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane looking at where our staff are working from you can fully appreciate why!

The painting completed by Leisuretex Painting Contractors on each floor is stunning! The hallways have black ceilings cut in to white walls, the doors are painted black on the outward face with the rest of the door gloss white, giving the hallways the look of opulence without being overpowering inside the rooms.

In each room there is generally about 3 different colours painted: the ceilings are white, the walls a shade of tan with black features. The bathrooms are painted white giving the room a fresh and modern feel.

In the Commercial Kitchen and Restaurant the ceiling has been painted in two sections. As a full commercial kitchen must be entirely washable, high gloss paint must be used on the ceilings. However, high gloss paint is not suitable across the entire restaurant. As such Leisuretex Painting Contractors project manager had a joiner installed in the ceiling between the commercial kitchen and the restaurant. He then painted the edges between the high gloss white in the kitchen and the matte white used throughout the restaurant and bar.

‘The Eatery’, Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane’s  “lively all-day dining restaurant, [serving] great home-style food in a relaxed, modern atmosphere” was wallpapered using a bright coloured floral pattern which has then been complemented with bright furnishings. In the function rooms a more subtle grey wallpaper has been used. Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane also has a small cafe bar ‘Wrapped’ “located on the lobby level, [that] provides many grab-and-go options throughout the day, including fresh coffee, grilled paninis, sandwiches, and yummy cakes and pastries. In the evening, the area transforms into a quaint wine bar, where you can enjoy an ice-cold beer from our Best Brews™, a refreshing cocktail, or a glass from [their extensive international wine list.”

All in all the newly constructed Hotel looks fantastic and with the added Gym and Outdoor Entertaining Areas I think you can agree it is definitely worth a visit!

Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre

LEISURETEX PAINTERS HIT TO THE ROAD FOR GLADSTONE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE

A fresh lick of paint is the final touch for the newly built offices and carparks at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre.

Leisuretex painters travelled to Gladstone to complete the painting works at the site and we are proud of how successful the project went. Our team is made up of a supportive crew who work well together and this makes such a difference to an out-of-town job which requires good communication and teamwork.

The new Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre involved a state-of-the-art redevelopment of the Centre and expansion of the adjoining multi-level car park to include an additional three levels of car parking and two storeys of commercial office space.

Whilst this was our first joint venture in Gladstone, we do hope it’s not our last!

The Capitol Apartments

Leisuretex Property Maintenance Contractors completed internal and external painting and rendering of the newly constructed “The Capitol Apartments” late last year.

“The Capitol Apartments offer one and two bedroom luxuriously appointed serviced apartments for long-term or short-term accommodation.”

The external painting of the building was completed by fully trained staff using a boomlift where possible and abseil ropes for areas harder to reach and finer work such as window edging. Leisuretex Painting Contractors has specially trained staff for all working at heights projects.

The leisure facilities all painted by Leisuretex Painting Contractors within the building include a stylish Restaurant / Bar “Peel St Kitchen”, lap pool, Day Spa “cspa” and Gymnasium which includes an outdoor leisure area for entertaining. A small conference room for up to 50 delegates is also located within close proximity to Peel St Kitchen.

Another service we provided for The Capitol Apartments was a faux marble finish to bench tops giving the overall look that something extra without the marble price tag or maintenance.

This is not the first building Leisuretex Painting Contractors have completed for Forrester Properties painting and rendering the South Central Apartments previously.

Multi-Level Residential Render Paint Project at Hope Island

One of our Leisuretex Property Maintenance Crews are going great guns on the above render paint project at Hope Island. The newly constructed two storey house is located in an exclusive gated estate of Hope Island with other top end homes. We are currently in the process of completing an AcraTex system on the house exterior.

An AcraTex system involves a few steps – first we apply a coat of green render primer used for sand and cement render that is being painted before it has passed the 28 days curing period. This enables the builder to reduce scaffold hire by a considerable amount creating better costings and allowing the project to move forward sooner, with no effect to the quality of works.

We then apply two coats of AcraSand. AcraSand is a flexible 100% acrylic, mid build sand texture, formulated to produce a fine granular appearance in two coats by conventional nap roller application with balanced properties of film thickness for crack bridging and minimal roller patterning for flat sand finish appearance. It has a specified in system with AcraShield weather-proofing barrier topcoat for optimum life cycle efficiency.

Check out the photos of the work in progress and we will update you when it is completed!

If you have a rendering or painting job you would like quoted on, give us a call on (07) 3341 3403 – we’re more than happy to help in anyway we can!

QR Northgate & Nundah Maintenance Project

What a difference 2 days can make! If you were using Queensland Rail last weekend you may have noticed trains were not running between Bowen Hills and Northgate stations. Leisuretex Property Maintenance Contractors were onsite at Northgate and Nundah stations undertaking the repainting of all ticket offices, waiting shelters, balustrades, handrails, walls, line marking and the resurfacing of coping tiles; pretty much anything that had ever had paint on it previously was redone in JUST 2 DAYS!

Achieving the work done to the critical deadline was a credit to our boys (and girls) and their ‘Make it Happen’ attitude, working well into the night and early hours of Monday morning. A special thanks also to Walton Construction staff that helped direct and assist at times throughout the weekend. We look forward to working with you on the next one.

These projects are not new to Leisuretex Painting Contractors; we have performed shut downs and critical works successfully for more than 10 years either directly for Queensland Rail or through selected construction companies. If you have a painting project you need completed of a critical nature or on a tight schedule give Leisuretex Painting Contractors a call for a free no obligation quote.

Three Timeless Colours to Spruce Up Your Home Interior

If you want to transform the look of your home but don’t want to break the bank, repainting can be an inexpensive option. Like any other home interior trends, paint colours go in and out of fashion. Picking the wrong paint colours or an overall colour scheme that doesn’t suit, can quickly take your home from ‘Vogue’ to vulgar. If you’re not confident with bright colours or unsure, neutral colour paints are definitely the way to go as they can leave you open to using more vibrant colours in your home décor and accessories.

Our top tips for picking any colours for your home are –

  1. Research! Look through magazines and of course Pinterest to see what catches your eye and how others have styled for the colour. If someone has a similar style and colour choices in décor to you, it may give you an idea of where you want to go.
  2. Go to your local hardware or paint store and pick up a bunch of paint chips and/or if there’s a colour you particularly like, you can usually pick up a small sample pot for under $10. Try your colour on the wall (or tape the swatch to the wall if you’re not ready for the sample yet), step back to get a good look of the colour with the lighting of the room, your floors, furniture etc. The colour that looked absolutely perfect under the bright lights at the hardware may not look as good with the lighting you have chosen in your home.

The three top picks for neutral colours in trend at the moment are:

leisuretex-timeless-paint-colour-white-300x199

White

White has come and gone a few times over the decades often being ignored for the colour craze of the season (thinking 80s Apricot! Peach!!  Pink!!!). Today, white is in! White is the perfect way to make any room in your home look fresh, clean and sharp, and it can easily be embellished with pops of colour in your décor to really liven up the room. Paint your walls and mouldings in a crisp white to give a more modern appeal.

leisuretex-timless-paint-colours-grey-199x300

Grey

Grey walls are very on trend at the moment, just ask Dan & Dani from The Block All Stars! Grey shades from a light heather grey to a dark slate grey are all through the interior design magazines and of course Pinterest at the moment. Grey walls can bring an element of sophistication to a room without being over the top. However, there are so many tones and variations of grey available it’s hard to know which grey is the pick for you. Generally, avoid blue and green toned greys – focus on greys that have more charcoal tone qualities. Greys tend to pick up different colours depending on the lighting of the room so definitely use step 2 above and try out the colour on a wall.

leisuretex-timeless-colours-tan-220x300
Tan

Tan has been a popular neutral option for years and luckily, it isn’t going out of style any time soon. Tan paint has warmer tonal qualities than grey paint and still gives you the freedom to elaborate with your décor to add colour. For a polished and finished look add white trimmings and neutral accessories. When picking a tan colour avoid tans that have a pinkish tint to them. This will make your walls look out dated and unpolished (do I need to remind you of the 80s!) and look for tans that have a slight grey or white cast but are still warm tones.

As with any paint colour you choose there is what feels like a million different choices in each hue.  If you’re still not sure have a chat to your painter. Our Leisuretex painters have all been in the industry for years and have seen what works (and what doesn’t!) and will be more than happy to work with you to ensure your finished look is glamorous not garish.
